I hope to find the time to read the recent translation by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky. War and Peace Update #1 · War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. As one who gave up reading War and Peace twice but breezed through it the third time because it was the Pevear/Volokhonsky translation, I am delighted to hear that Turgenev is next in line! He puts this monolingual reader to shame. I tried this novel many times in other I hope they're at work on War and Peace. There are two big issues with this translation, depending on where you're sitting. When I first saw Bondarchuk's "War and Peace," in 1968, in New York, it was presented in two parts and ran six hours. Vintage Classic, New York, 2008. The Stieg Larsson books, the Pevear and Volokhonsky translation of “War and Peace,” and Laurie Sheck's “A Monster's Notes,” to name just a few (many more from his portfolio are delightfully catalogued on his Web site). I bought the Pevear/Volokhonsky translation for the Kindle because my ancient Penguin copy has a small font that's tiring on the eyes. My favorite novel of all novels is The Brothers Karamazov in the Pevear and Volokhonsky translation.
